September Reviews Update

I have decided to post pone my Top 80s cartoon review, just until further notice.

But I'd hate to not have any retro reviews for this month, so I've decided to review the following things:
  • my Top 5 NES games
  • Tech Spec:  Soundwave MP3 Player/Action Figure
  • The Breakfast Club
  • Ink Critique: Comic Book Heroes and my Childhood (might be split in to 4 parts)
  • Robocop
Also I've been thinking of doing a "Countdown to Blackest Night" set of videos too, since my Blackest Night Review is next month.

Ink Critque: Emerald Warriors #2

This will be the first time I'm pulling a Linara, in that I have a bone to pick with the cover for the most part of Emerald Warriors #2.  why? because on one cover, you clearly seem a set up for something that literally doesn't happen till the last page, and even then...it seems more likely that was a spoiler art for #3. If anything, the Sodam Yat/Arisia cover is better for the story. Mostly because it doesn't cause the ending to be a let down.

However, the cover in my eyes is very well done. It is one of those comic covers that does make you question it for the right reasons. Such as "Why are bleez and guy in that struggle pose? Is guy going to become a red lantern again? Will the reason for guy's and ganthet's pact with Atrocitus be revealed?".

But when you read through the whole book, it does have a decent storyline going for it. Guy is still slightly under the influence of the Red light (Rage) and is reflecting upon his history and role as a Green Lantern of Earth. He also seem to hint that history might judge him harshly, perhaps because of the secret pact.
Arisia has a nightmare about Sodam Yat, and still feels guilty for just leaving him there. Kilowog seems to have let all the death and killings get to him, and feels responsible for all those who died.

Arisia and Kilowog decide to go with Guy on his mission to the lost sectors, Arisia want to go to Daxam first but Guy needs to go to Odym to purge the influence of rage from him. Only for Bleez to come in at the last second and prevent Brother Warth from doing as such.

Cliffhanger endings are major disappointments if none done correctly, and in my eyes this ending wasn't. It was a rather cliche last second cliffhanger....like in movies, such endings can spoil the whole story. In this case, the guy/bleez cover is more preview/spoiler for Emerald Warriors #3.

All in all, the comic is a 4/5. The only reason it gets that, is because the Guy/Bleez cover is not needed and only serves as a let down. Especially how well put together the story was and how well it was flowing. The guy/bleez cover is pretty much just a spoiler for the very last page, if not a spoiler for something that isn't technically happening until the next book. I do recommend getting the book however, but only the Sodam Yat/Arisia cover.
